What sets us apart from mainstream Personal Trainers are our qualifications. Whilst the minimum requirement to become a Personal Trainer in Australia is Certificate IV in Fitness which takes approximately 6 months to obtain ,here at PACE ALL team members have tertiary level qualifications in Exercise Science (Exercise Specialists), and many have completed Masters
Degrees in Exercise Prescription/Rehabilitation (Exercise Physiologists).

Stephanie Hayward

Specialities/ Background

Stephanie is a qualified Exercise Physiologist specialising in postural assessments and lumbar stabilisation programs. She completed her Bachelor of applied Science at Deakin University in 2003, where she fell in love with Rehabilitation. She completed her Masters in Exercise Rehabilitation at Victoria University in 2007 which strengthened her passion and interest in exercise rehabilitation. During this time she assisted at Olympic Park Sports Medicine Clinic, Victoria n Rehabilitation Centre, Epworth and Austin Hospital. Stephanie has a strong background in dance and calisthenics, and has been a level 1 coach and strength presenter for over the past 7 years. Her love for this sport has found her running strength and flexibility seminars around Australia.

Her experience in musculoskeletal rehabilitation has led her to specialise in pelvic stability programs designed to correct postural and muscle imbalances. Her detailed postural analysis has proven successful treatment for chronic lower back and hip pain. She works closely with Rheumatologists, Chiropractors, Myotherapists and local General Practitioners.

She has a strong passion and energy for rehabilitation and her client's success reflects this.

Mark Simpson
Exercise Physiologist
Mornington Manager

Mark is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist currently working out of Mornington with a wide variety of clientele and referrers. Mark has a high involvement with metabolic patients with a strong focus on preventing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus through lifestyle change and specific exercise prescription accompanied with patient education. Mark has provided numerous diabetes prevention programs through Diabetes Australia- VIC, and has spent the past 4 years working one on one with newly diagnosed diabetes patients to maximise treatment outcomes, alongside dietitians and general practitioners.
Mark is a former triathlete and adventure racer, who still has a deep passion for working with elite competitors. Mark is currently working alongside a sub elite junior motor cross rider, and has experience with local football and soccer clubs, as well as a National Champion Iron Woman (surf lifesaving). Mark develops periodised strength and conditioning training programs which have been enhanced with a Graduate Diploma in Strength and Conditioning from Edith Cowan University. These programs work with the goals of the coach and the athlete, to help enhance current training programs.
Mark is currently developing Corporate Health Programs, with the aim of improving health profiles throughout Corporate Victoria. Job Capacity has been an included focus in this area, as well as education, health promotion, weight loss campaigns, etc. Mark has a deep knowledge base in musculo-skeletal rehabilitation and preventative work, which is furthered by a Graduate Diploma in Exercise Prescription (rehabilitation) from Australian Catholic University.
Mark works alongside physiotherapists, general practitioners, chiropractors, osteopaths, diabetes educators, job capacity assessors, triathlon and swimming coaches to help achieve greater results for each client, taking into account their goals, big or small, and starting level. Each exercise program is individualised to the required needs of each client, determined through specific assessment.
Mark aims to work towards being one of the most respected Exercise Physiologists in the country, and helping to improve the state of the nation's health at every level through growing corporate health programs and specific consultation and education with clients.

History
Tony has been highly involved with sport, exercise and health and fitness from a young age playing junior representative rugby league in N.S.W. and progressing to the Under 19's and 21's teams for the St George Dragons. Tony is also an advanced level snowboard instructor having taught for many years in Canada and here in Australia. After many injuries and frequent rehabilitation sessions Tony decided to pursue a career in exercise rehabilitation at a mature age and he has not looked back since starting at PACE in June 2008.

Alison Green
Dietitian

Alison has been a consultant dietitian working alongside General Practitioners in medical centres in Somerville, Hallam and Endeavour Hills for the past 10 years.

Over her 16 years of experience as a dietitian, time conducting Diabetes Education courses with Diabetes Educators and running Healthy Heart groups has given her a great interest in helping motivate clients take a healthy approach to their lifestyle.

As well giving advice for general healthy eating, weight management, diabetes and cardiovascular disease, Alison has an interest in women’s health, elderly nutrition, and gastrointestinal diseases such as Coeliac disease, fructose malabsorption and ‘irritable bowel’.

Away from her part time job as a dietitian, Alison is a Mum to 2 beautiful primary school age children, and also enjoys playing music, handcrafts, socialising with friends and, of course, keeping physically active herself (with the help of the PACE team!).

Greer Campbell
Exercise Physiologist

Background
Greer is an ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist with an interest in enhancing general well-being as well as the prevention and management of chronic diseases.
Her passion for health, fitness and rehabilitation was sparked aged nine when she attended cardiac rehabilitation classes with a family member. She happily and enthusiastically participated in all sports at school, worked as an AFL Accredited junior football umpire and was a member of the St Stephens Harriers Athletics club.
She completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science at Australian Catholic University in 2005 and a Graduate Diploma of Exercise for Rehabilitation at Victoria University in 2006.

Greer is passionate about enabling people make positive changes in their health and well-being. Having worked in a major teaching hospital for 2 years Greer witnessed the positive impact exercise has in enhancing quality of life, recovery and management of a variety of conditions.

Greer is looking forward to getting to know PACE clients and being a member of PACE team.

Ben Southam
Exercise Specialist

Ben is currently completing his Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sports Science) at Deakin University located in Burwood. Ben has also recently completed a Certificate 2 in First Aid in 2008.

Ben has a high level of experience as an athlete in running (both athletics and cross country), triathlons and swimming and also participates in basketball and football. Recent work has seen Ben involved in coaching The Peninsula School long distance training squad as well as conducting sport lessons at Mt.Eliza Primary School.

In his free time Ben enjoys continuing his training for running and football. In 2004 and 2005 Ben was a national competitor in Athletics and Cross Country over distances ranging from 800m to 8km. Recent success in football has seen Ben awarded a League Best and Fairest, nominated as a member of the u/19 Team of the Year and in 2008 Ben was also captain of his own team.

Ben is a young, enthusiastic and up-and-coming member of the PACE team with a keen interest in fitness and in helping clients reach their goals, whether this be at the elite or amatuer level.

Future
Ben aims to complete further studies in a Master of Applied Exercise Science (Exercise Presciption) to one day become an accredited Exercise Physiology. Ben also aims to see each client achieve positive outcomes through his program designs.

Jessica Woods
Exercise Physiologist & Exercise Specialist

Jessica graduated from University of Tasmania in 2007 with a Bachelor of Human Movement (Exercise Sport Science). During her undergraduate studies Jessica was actively involved with the fitness testing for the Tasmanian Institute of Sport talent search program. In her final year of her degree Jessica found her passion for exercise rehabilitation during her placement working with Workcover and injury rehabilitation clientele with her lecturer a local Exercise Physiologist.

In 2008 Jessica was accepted into the Graduate Diploma of Exercise for Rehabilitation and then in 2009 Masters in Exercise Rehabilitation at Victoria University. During her postgraduate studies Jessica has gained valuable experience working with a diverse range of clientele during her time at Caulfield General Medical Centre working as part of the physiotherapy rehabilitation team for neurological, spinal cord injury, cardiorespiratory and orthopaedic patients. Jessica also has gained experience working with Arthritis Victoria as a WAVE leader running warm water exercise classes. At completion of her student placement with PACE, the team was impressed with Jessica's enthusiasm and attitude and was recruited to the PACE team.

Jessica completed her Masters in Exercise Rehabilitation in 2010 and is now an accredited Exercise Physiologist and Exercise Scientist with the Exercise Sports Science Australia (ESSA).

Leigh West
Exercise Physiologist & Exercise Specialist

Leigh graduated from Deakin University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science. Throughout his degree he was awarded a scholarship from the Australian Youth and Health Foundation and was admitted to the Golden Key International Honour Society in recognition as top 15% of students to study his degree. During his studies Leigh also completed a Certificate III and IV in fitness and a Level I Sports Trainers certification.

Leigh commenced his Graduate Diploma in Exercise Rehabilitation at Australian Catholic University in 2010, with a long term ambition of becoming an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. Throughout his studies Leigh has gained valuable work experience at Bounce Health Group, Trewrehab, the Country Fire Authority and here at Pace Health Management.

Leigh is looking forward to his career at Pace and intends to use his knowledge and program designs to improve the health and fitness outcomes of his clients.

Lindsey Moxon
Exercise Physiologist

Lindsey is a qualified Exercise Physiologist who is passionate and motivated in helping individuals make healthy lifestyle changes or providing help and support in rehabilitating their injuries. She developed a love for rehabilitation after completing a rehabilitation subject whilst studying a Bachelor of Exercise Science degree. She decided to pursue this further by completing a Graduate Diploma in Applied Exercise Science (Exercise Prescription).

During her study, she gained valuable clinical experience from an extensive clinical placement with St Vincent's and Mercy Private Hospital, participating in a workplace health management program. Lindsey completed functional assessments and group exercise sessions with other EPs to ultimately improve staff health and wellbeing. She also completed an intense placement at Epworth Hospital in the neurological rehabilitation department. Her patients had suffered car accidents or brain injuries and parts of the placement were quite confronting. Overall, this gave her a very worthwhile experience within a multi-disciplinary hospital team. Her other clinical placements included Equilibrium Health and Fitness and the Australian Catholic University (ACU) clinic.

As an exercise leader with the Whitehorse City Council OPSACS program (Older Persons' Social and Community Support Group), she provided fun and productive fitness classes for older persons with mental and physical disabilities.
Lindsey currently participates in contemporary dance and believes that exercise is the best way to stay happy and healthy. She is very excited to be working with PACE, Australia's best EP practice 2009. She hopes that her patients will find the benefits of exercise and adopt a healthy lifestyle through exercise.

Zoe Lechte
Exercise Specialist

Zoe is an Accredited Exercise Scientist currently working in Frankston and Mornington. She specialises in personal and group training, sports conditioning and rehabilitation. She has a wide variety of clientele including distance runners, sporting teams and clients with musculoskeletal, metabolic or cardiovascular conditions. Zoe is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Exercise for Rehabilitation at Victoria University, and aims to become an accredited Exercise Physiologist. Zoe has gained experience in rehabilitation as a sports trainer with Tyabb Football Club, and also as a volunteer in the Medical and Massage section during the 2008 Melbourne Marathon. She has also participated in many sports such as football and basketball, equestrian, triathlon and long distance running, which has enhanced her sports conditioning knowledge. Zoe is passionate about helping each of her clients to achieve their own specific goals through exercise, whether they are working towards injury rehabilitation, managing a chronic condition, improving quality of life or reaching a particular sporting goal.

Jack Hickey
Exercise Specialist

Jack graduated from RMIT University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) degree. Throughout his studies, Jack was awarded as top student in the Human Movement program in 2008 and 2009 by the RMIT School of Medical Sciences. Jack is also registered with Kinect Australia as a Exercise Specialist and has his Level 2 First Aid with CPR. Over the past three years, Jack completed field placement at a wide range of facilities including PACE Exercise Physiology, Dorset Rehabilitation Centre and Broadmeadows Health Centre. Jack also worked for the Heartwell foundation, providing personal training and physical education programs for children with physical and intellectual disabilities. Jack has a strong passion for health, fitness and the benefits of regular exercise in the prevention and rehabilitation of musculosketal injuries and chronic diseases. He strives to motivate all of his clients and design specific programs to achieve their health and fitness goals. Jack is furthering his studies undertaking Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology, to become an ESSA accredited Exercise Physiologist.

Jenna Neivandt
Exercise Physiologist

Jenna is an accredited Exercise Physiologist with a passion for teaching clients how to enhance their health and wellbeing by using exercise and lifestyle modifications in a fun and friendly environment.

Jenna completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science in 2009 at ACU and continued on to complete a Graduate Diploma of Exercise Prescription in 2010. During this time she gained valuable experience working as a sports trainer at a football club as well as in a private Pilates clinic. Jenna has also had the opportunity to do work experience at the Austin Hospital in their cardiac rehabilitation program as well as in a community health centre. This broad range of experience has given Jenna the skills to work with clients of varying ages and pathologies.

Dora Pandeloglou
Exercise Specialist

Dora works in an administration role at the Malvern Studio of PACE Exercise Physiology. She is currently a second year student studying an Undergraduate degree of Exercise and Sports Science at Deakin University and wants to further her studies by completing a Masters of Exercise Physiology, majoring in the ESSA accredited stream. Furthermore, she is currently undergoing a Certificate III and IV in Personal Training to enhance and add depth to her knowledge.

Jennifer Smallridge
Exercise Specialist

Jennifer is in her final year of the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science (ESSA Specialisation) at Deakin University, Burwood. Her success in university studies saw her being inducted into the Golden Key International Honours Society for performing in the top 15% of the Faculty of Health, Medicine, Nursing and Behavioural Sciences.

Jennifer is an enthusiastic, passionate and highly professional clinician. Jennifer has sought a wide range of experiences to develop her skills including gaining qualifications as a Level Two Sports Trainer, AustSwim Swimming, Certificate Three in Fitness and Level Two First Aid.

Jennifer was given a position with PACE based on the outstanding feedback we received from clients and staff at the conclusion of a four week clinical placement at PACE Exercise Physiology. During her placement she underwent rigorous training from the PACE Exercise Physiology Team to ensure she was ‘ready to practice’. Jennifer has also had experience working with the Eastern ranges Football Club, Knox Family Chiropractic and with Deakin University Research centre.

In her spare time, Jennifer has been a dancer since aged four and her gymnastic team has won National and State Championships with Gymnastics Australia. Jennifer also enjoys pilates, yoga, boxing classes and plays social netball.

Future:
Jennifer will be completing Level One and Two Pilates Matwork classes in 2011 whilst she completes her final year of study. In 2012 Jennifer will enter the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2012.

Steph Binder
Exercise Specialist

Specialities/ Background
Steph completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at Deakin University in 2010. Achieving high marks throughout her studies, Steph was inducted into the Golden Key International Honours Society for performing in the top 15% of the Faculty of Health, Medicine, Nursing and Behavioural Sciences. During her undergraduate degree, Steph gained a vast amount of experience in the field working with The National Talent Identification Program, Box Hill Senior Secondary College and the STRONG study conducted by Deakin University. The STRONG study investigated the relationship between Type 2 diabetes, benefits of exercise and the adherence to training. It was in this time that Steph gained a passion for working with those suffering from metabolic disease and further sparked her interest in exercise for weight loss. Steph is also currently working for the CFA conducting Cardiovascular risk assessments for the volunteers across Victoria. Steph is currently completing a Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Deakin University with the aim of becoming an ESSA accredited Exercise Physiologist in 2012.
In her spare time Steph likes to keep fit and active and is a keen rock climber. She also enjoys a wide variety of sports, participating in both netball and basketball on a weekly basis.

Shanyn Puglisi
Exercise Specialist

Specialities/ Background

Shanyn is in her third and final year of a Bachelor Degree in Exercise and Sports Science at Deakin University in Burwood. She has taken a particular interest in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology and has chosen to major in these subjects. Shanyn is also completing a Diploma in Professional Pilates Instruction with International Pilates Training, Australia's leading specialist training providers, and will have completed both her Exercise and Sports Science Degree and Pilates Diploma by November 2011.

Shanyn is completing a student placement position with Core Stability Pilates Studio in Black Rock which has furthered her knowledge and experience in clinical exercise prescription and rehabilitation. After she finishes her Pilates Training, Shanyn plans to go on to do the Advanced Diploma in Pilates Instruction where she hopes to specialize in exercise prescription for those with arthritis and inflammatory conditions.

Upon completion of her degree Shanyn intends on becoming an accredited exercise physiologist with ESSA and continuing her work with PACE Health Management. In the future she also hopes to become accredited with the Nutrition Society of Australia so she can provide her clients with expert exercise and nutrition advice. Shanyn will also be completing a level 1 Certificate in Sports Science with Exercise Research Australia in July 2011.

Shanyn has a background in dance, and has successfully competed in Australia's most prestigious dance competitions for over 15 years, She was also presented with a Premiers Award for receiving a perfect score in VCE/VET dance and currently coaches and performs in a cheerleading squad for the Victoria's newest team in the Australian Ice Hockey League, The Melbourne Mustangs.

Alice Borylawski
Exercise Specialist

Specialities/ Background

Alice is completing her final year of a Bachelor of Exercise Science at Australian Catholic University. She previously completed a Certificate III in Exercise Science and Fitness there which lead her onto the Bachelor degree.
She has had experience working at Fernwood Women's Health Club as a gym instructor and currently also works at a health club in Ormond where she teaches two classes a week as a Les Mills Body Balance instructor. She has also gathered experience working with Ormond Physiotherapy and has her senior first aid qualifications.
From a young age Alice has been interested in gymnastics, dance and athletics and trained for a few years with the V.I.S. Future Athletes Program. All her life she has been interested in sports and being healthy.
She would like to specialise in working with musculoskeletal injuries and also chronic disease and cardiac rehabilitation patients. She believes it is very important to keep healthy and look after your body. After graduating this year, Alice will be looking to enroll into the post graduate Exercise Rehabilitation course to further her education.

Sam Buchanan
Exercise Specialist

Specialities/ Background

Sam graduated from the University of Ballarat in 2010 with a Bachelor of Human Movement (Exercise and Sport Science). During his undergraduate studies Sam was heavily involved in Exercise Physiology testing at the Australian Institute of Sport with Athletics Australia. In his final year of undergraduate study, Sam's focus turned to Exercise Rehabilitation, gaining placement with the Victorian Rehabilitation Centre focussing on TAC and Workcover rehabilitation.
Sam has completed postgraduate study in Exercise Rehabilitation, being accepted into the Graduate Diploma of Exercise Rehabilitation at the University of Ballarat. During his postgraduate study, Sam gained exceptional experience working with a wide variety of clientele during his time at Northern Health, working as part of the Exercise Physiology team for Cardio-metabolic, musculoskeletal, neurological and chronic disease management. Sam also gained experience with neurological clientele, running a rural falls prevention program focussing on elderly clientele. In addition, Sam gained invaluable experience at the University of Ballarat Rehabilitation clinic, managing a number of clients ranging from musculoskeletal rehabilitation to sporting injuries.
Sam is a young, enthusiastic and up-and-coming member of the PACE team with a keen interest in fitness and in helping clients reach their goals, whether this be at the elite or amateur level.

Future:

Sam is working on completing the remainder of his ESSA hours in order to become an AEP in early 2012, in which he can then look forward in progressing further with PACE.

Lauren Millar
Exercise Physiologist

Specialities/ Background

Lauren is an ESSA accredited Exercise Physiologist specialising in women's health and stress management.  She strongly believes in life balance and providing an holistic approach to address the health needs of her clients.   
Lauren graduated from Australian Catholic University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Exercise Science (Hons) and used her honors year to combine her two professional interests;  stress and the effects on and women's health.  Lauren  run a study with the Australian Institute of Sport examining stress levels in women during the postnatal period, the study produced clinically significant results and Lauren was awarded a first class honors.
Her studies have lead her to specialise in rehabilitation exercise programs to address stress related discomfort, posture imbalance and pre and post pregnancy.   She enjoys designing exercise program to help manage incontinence and reducing the impact of hormone and muscle imbalances to help manage chronic pain in both men and women.    Lauren has a keen interest in Pilates, and deigning functional work conditioning programs for all types of workers. 
Lauren is commencing training in 2012 in the areas of Pilates and pelvic floor studies focusing on incontinence.  She receives great feedback from her clients who are in-pursuit of a lifestyle that includes less stress and improved wellbeing
