Clinical Placement | Traineeship
Clinical Placement
PACE Exercise Physiology has been independently owned and operated by a team of exercise physiologists for over ten years.
We pride ourselves on being the benchmark for exercise physiology services in Victoria.
One of the key ingredients underpinning the success of our business is our commitment to developing our staff, our profession and our client’s.
PACE seeks ongoing recommendations and guidance from a National Human Resource Manager from a large multi-national company on the structure and strategies to ensure that our staff, our placements, our trainees and our business are performing optimally.
Clinical placement provides students with not only clinical practicum experience, but an opportunity to be considered for employment with PACE at the completion of your studies. Whilst you are on placement we expect that you will contribute to our team and teach us what you know as well as learning from us. We aim to develop your clinical skill and knowledge where possible, however at times where it is not appropriate for you to be involved in a client’s session we may ask you to complete non-clinical tasks.
At the end of your placement you will have the opportunity to apply for a PACE Exercise Physiology Traineeship.
We have hundreds of people apply for a clinical placement at PACE both from interstate and overseas. So we have decided that we will offer 8 x 4 week placements to students at Post Graduate level and 2 x 4 week placements to students at undergraduate level.
Please follow the application process below to apply.
Good luck, we look forward to working with you!

The file needs to be saved as 97-2003 Microsoft Word compatible.

- Briefly outline why you chose PACE for your placement
- Provide a list of 4 consecutive week periods that you are available for placement
- What area of exercise physiology particularly interests you?
- List one unique outstanding quality that sets you apart from other candidates
- Briefly outline your plans for the next twelve months in relation to your career/learning
20 Applicants will be selected to meet with a PACE director for a brief interview (end of October).
Successful Applicants will be notified no later than the end of November with their placement dates
If you have not received notification for an interview by the October 31st, your application has been unsuccessful. You are welcome to apply for an EP Traineeship.
What do we expect from you on your placement?
That you follow all of PACE's 8 “non negotiables” (we will show you these when you arrive – note that a breach of these may result in your placement being terminated.)
- Your attire is professional – collared shirt and neat casual pants without holes.
- You arrive 10 minutes early.
- You complete required reading and take notes as you are observing your supervisor.
- We as a group are committing 30 hours/week for your development, we will request that you complete administration tasks, data entry and research at various times which are all a part of being a private exercise physiologist/specialist.
- It is important that you are aware that the service and treatment we offer to patient’s is more important than your placement. Some patient’s will not want you to observe or the exercise physiologist may deem that it is not appropriate for you to observe. (in these times please bring some reading material or research that you can complete)
- Please note; The supervisor’s focus must remain on the patient at all times. Please stand further away from the patient than the EP and only comment or touch the patient when invited to.
- Many of our clinical placements end up being employed by PACE Exercise Physiology. So there is an excellent opportunity if you impress to be offered casual or part time work with us. We encourage you to become involved, show initiative and learn as much as you can. We request that you are self directed and ask questions at the end of each session where appropriate.
