What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

Relaxing on a beach anywhere with my young family is great – if it’s warm and has waves it’s even better. I enjoy being active in the outdoors.

What do you love about being an Exercise Physiologist?

I love being able to assist a wide variety of people achieve their specific health and wellbeing goals. Whether this be a metabolic patient, cancer sufferer (pre, during or post treatment), high performance athlete or someone who just wants to improve an aspect of their fitness, each individual success gives me great satisfaction and inspires me to continue learning and then promoting lifestyle change towards each individual I treat.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

My main hobby is participating in sports and as such my winter is taken up by playing for the Peninsula Old Boys. In summer I do a lot more cross training (Swimming, running, cycling plus gym work) and enjoy competing it triathlon. Other hobbies include snow skiing, travelling, water sports and a good old fashion movie night.

What do you love about being an Exercise Physiologist?

I love being able to show people a positive way to exercise; to be able to help clients through tough periods following cancer diagnosis, type 2 diabetes mellitus or if they are 'stuck in a rut' and are keen to get fit and healthy again. I find it extremely rewarding to watch clients improve and their confidence grow, particularly as they learn more and use this as positive experience to challenge themselves and demonstrate how fit and well they really can be!  

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

I love anything and everything to do with getting up and moving. My general hobbies are tennis, cycling, swimming, kicking the footy. I enjoy going on little adventures with friends and doing something new!

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

I love being active outdoors and spending time at the beach. I have been heavily involved in surf lifesaving from a young age, having competed competitively for years and have been lucky enough to travel to beautiful beaches around our country. When I’m not being active, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends (especially over food and coffee).

What do you love about being an Exercise Physiologist?

I love seeing the change in a person that comes from educating them on exercise and how that can improve their health. Having worked with a wide variety of individuals ranging from those rehabilitating from spinal surgery, musculoskeletal injuries, diabetes, and cancer. It is always rewarding to see people being able to self-manage their health with the tools and knowledge that has been provided to them.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

Anything that involves being outdoors – golf, cycling, running and hiking just to give a few examples. I also look forward to the markets every weekend to stock up on fresh produce for the week.

The wide scope of Exercise Physiology. Its exciting and challenging to work with such a wide variety of clientele, ranging from athletes to chronic disease management to people suffering with back pain. It’s a constant challenge but is rewarding being able to help each individual work towards their goal, all of which are unique.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

Training for triathlon with friends, coffee, and spending time with my dog. Anything that is outdoors is usually of interest to me also, such as mountain biking, kayaking, time at the beach.

What do you love about being an Exercise Physiologist?

Being able to help people reach their potential though exercise and achieve things they originally saw as impossible. I love being able to empower people to be the best they can be and realise how amazing the human body is. I see exercise as a part of daily function and I love being able to provide everyone with exercises which may not only improve condition but also move in the most functional way possible.I love that my job allows me to engage with a variety of people from the elderly, to those returning to work, to the super fit.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

I love spending time with my family, especially my 6 nieces and 2 nephews. Along with this I enjoy heading to the AFL to support Collingwood, play netball, go snowboarding and keeping myself strong and fit in every way possible.

What do you love about being an Exercise Physiologist?

I love being able to go to work everyday seeing happy faces on everyone that walks through the door. Being able to make a difference is some bodies’ life not only physically, but also socially and emotionally is a very rewarding experience for the individual, as well as the practitioner who creates the environment to make habitual changes. My favourite part of being an exercise physiologist is allowing the clients to achieve goals they didn’t think they could accomplish.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

My regular hobbies outside of work include keeping fit and active through participating in basketball at a competitive level within Victoria from March to September. With this comes a lot of pre-season training and general conditioning. I also love spending lots of time going for walks and runs down at the beach.

What do you love about being an Exercise Physiologist?

I love helping people move and feel better. There is nothing like learning about someone in the initial assessment, understanding their concerns or injury, and then spending time to analyse their movement patterns to find the underlying problems. Exercise is a great therapy tool and it is wonderful to see clients start to stretch and exercising correctly. I also get to work in a private exercise studio all day and wear my runners!

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

I love coaching and performing calisthenics, swimming, and being a mum to my new son Riley.

I love helping people with chronic lower back pain and pelvic instability. I treat many Gluteus Medius tears and have developed an exercise program for these areas that have been successful with many 100’s of patients.

Now being a mum I understand the changes pregnancy and birth cause and I am all about strengthening the pelvic floor and core muscles! I also see many people with rheumatoid conditions and help them bring exercise safely into their life to help manage fatigue and pain.

What do you love about being an Exercise Physiologist?

To be given the opportunity by our clientele to assist them in achieving their health goals through lifestyle education and motivating them to live an enhanced quality of life. Working with a large variety of clientele who require assistance in managing chronic health condition/s such as Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, osteoarthritis and cancer (pre, during and post treatment) in a supportive and fun environment on a daily basis makes being an Exercise Physiologist the perfect job for me.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

Spending time with my young family and experiencing new adventures every day – Jamie (5 years young), Dylan (3 ½ years young) and my wife Amanda. My sporting passion is snowboarding and I enjoy catching up with friends and telling dad jokes.

Exercise Physiology excites me. From a young age I have devoted my life to exercise, beginning as a keen gymnast I naturally gravitated to health and physical activity subjects at school which lead to a career Exercise Physiology. The ability to help individuals with a wide variety of conditions overcome barriers, regain functioning, improve performance and leave with a smile on their face knowing they have achieved something that will change their life, makes being an Exercise Physiologist a truly rewarding career.  

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE HOBBIES OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I love coaching gymnastics, training circus/flying trapeze, anything involving adrenaline or any excuse to get outdoors and exercise. I also love the peninsula beachside lifestyle, socializing, meeting new people, drinking coffee and exploring new places.

Everyone is different, with different goals and needs, and I enjoy the challenge of finding the right strategies to ensure the best possible outcomes for my clients.

I love surfing, travelling, camping and the outdoors, as well as football and basketball. Anything that gets me outside and moving is usually of interest to me.
